It basically says that they decided to write the old fashioned way and they received the save the date but are saying they can’t attend. They immediately say that they realized they weren’t living their life for God to the fullest extent and that they are trying to do better. Then the whole bottom half of the the letter is more religious talk to say that they don’t approve of the addressee marrying outside of the catholic church and that while they (claim to) understand they cannot support it and won’t be attending.

This gave me some background when i was curious about all the hate. It’s obviously one sided but it does present several issues.

While i understand that it is human nature to not want to listen to people who are talking down to you, or who say things that make you feel bad about yourself and your choices, i don’t think “someone made me feel bad so I’m going to continue to destroy the planet” is a valid excuse to avoid reflecting on personal habits and their consequences.

But it’s a good reminder in how to speak to people. If youre dealing with someone in the maga cult you could try to say 1 liners at them but you probably aren’t going to get them to actually listen to you. Same applies to trying to talk to omnivores or vegetarians
