Nor does Valve, since Arc Raiders was in the category.
Valve doesn’t decide anything, the whole Steam awards are voted by the community. It’s a popularity contest.

7·1 day agoYou got to see Princess Mononoke in IMAX? I’m so damn jealous, I’ve always wanted to see a Ghibli movie in theaters but never got the chance.

Cyberpunk 2077@lemmy.world•No, Cyberpunk 2077's elevators aren't just loading screens in disguise, says lead: "The engine is a miracle. I will not accept slander."English
9·4 days agobut it remains to be seen wether CDPR will make the effort to customize the engine to suit their needs.
From what I remember they’re doing so many changes to UE that one of their biggest changes is being merged into UE5 itself. Just because they’re moving to the other engine doesn’t mean they don’t also have engine developers working on it. It’ll likely be much more optimized than your typical unreal engine game.
I’d do anything for a Wipeout Collection port to PC. Really missed these games.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•PC gaming on Arm chips didn't happen in 2025, but an epic battle with x86 CPUs is comingEnglish
8·8 days agoThe compatibility layer has had significant improvements, most apps work fine now not to mention Valve’s compatibility layer for ARM making games work. The Snapdragon laptops mostly flopped so you often see them on discount for $600 as opposed to the $1200+ they were introduced as. I think they have a good chance to be taken seriously.

31·8 days agoMany people want to stay on Windows though. The problem with ARM windows laptops was the garbage marketing, overpriced laptops, and bad compatibility layer. That’s all been more or less fixed, so I think the next-gen ARM chips will be big.

movies@piefed.social•Official Discussion - TRON: Ares [SPOILERS]English
2·9 days agoFinally got around to watching the movie so I thought I’d necropost a bit.
It was a 6/10 movie - not really shocked it did poorly. Everyone is rightfully hating on Jared Leto but he really wasn’t the problem with the film. Almost every character sucked. I thought Greta Lee was terrible, either screaming and trying too hard to look scared or completely failing to deliver anything in what was supposed to be an emotional scene. The only one who put in the effort was the evil CEO, he was pretty fun.
Visuals were great. Soundtrack was great. Whenever we got cool Tron vehicles and action sequences I was happy, whenever a character started talking I instantly lose interest. The script is ridiculously dumb. My favorite part was when Jared Leto infodumped her entire life story while driving and she responds with “Being a human is… Hard…”, did a child write this?
Anyway, decent movie if you can turn your brain off and try not to nitpick it.
I very very rarely pre-order but if reviews are out and you’re already planning on buying it, it could be worth it. Some stores provide a discount for pre-ordering games, I got Elden Ring for 15% off before it even released which is nice.
I think it’s less that they tried to improve upon season 1 and more like they tried to make it appeal to more people when it suddenly got popular. Season 1 felt very self-contained and genuinely tried to be a horror mystery show, the later seasons seem aimed at teenagers with lots of dumb teenage drama and quirky humor… I remember feeling some tonal whiplash going into season 2 but I guess not that many people noticed at the time.

Soulslike - Discussion, News, Memes@lemmy.zip•[Discussion] Which glitches do you use in Soulslikes?English
7·11 days agoMore of an exploit than an outright glitch, but I loved how you can very easily kill Dragonrider in dark souls 2 by waiting for him to take a few steps, rolling next to him, and watching him nonchalantly fall to his death.
I did it every single playthrough and it’s never not funny. Bless you DS2.

Pluribus@lemmy.zip•Pluribus - 1x09 "La Chica o El Mundo" - Episode DiscussionEnglish
3·11 days agoLike I get that she’s a selfish person who immediately lost interest in saving the world now that she wasn’t in danger but I agree with you, it’s absolutely crazy that the show is trying to convince us she ate the blue pill so hard that she gets mad at the one person in the entire world that wants to save it. Why is she so dismissive and rude to him? Isn’t this literally what she was preaching? All of this because she had sex? Lol.
And why didn’t she forbid them from developing the personalized virus? Or take the eggs back?
I guess it’s implied that they can’t honor requests to not turn her, but this indeed still a big plot hole. Why can’t she just fly over to where they’re doing the testing and steal the eggs back? They can’t do anything to stop her. I don’t understand how owning an atom bomb and saving the world is somehow easier than arguing with the hive to stop doing research.
I’m probably not going to be back for season 2 whenever that releases. Happy for the people in the community that are having fun but this felt like a big waste of time.

10·12 days agoGreat game if someone hasn’t played it yet. It’s basically just a modern Castlevania Aria of Sorrow by the same lead dev, and it is a bit janky, but there’s a ton of content and a lot to love. I’m looking forward to the sequel.

I guess you’re just going to ignore that Xbox is flopping and selling consistently less than playstation/xbox even before the hardware crisis. And the undisputed fact that MS has been unsubtly pushing game pass as an alternative to buying and owning games.
Bravo 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Worse when it’s a flash game, as I understand they’re all dead now.
You can still play every flash game ever through the Flashpoint Archive

My favorite manga are probably:
Shoutout also to Berserk, Akira, and Uzumaki. They’re great but not quite as good as my favorites. That said I’d recommend any of the top 3 to literally anybody.
Oh, and Planetes which is included in the pic is also a great read for sci-fi fans.
