That’s how the interstate system and urban highways were built. But people being displaced were mostly black and/or poor and/or immigrants, so it wasn’t seen as a bad thing at the time.

So if your city shut down its streetcars in 1951, like mine did, then what you said is true. If you city had streetcars in 1953 or beyond, its not. Not to be too pedantic about it.
My point is that is less than 1 human lifespan. There are people that rode the streetcars in my city when they were kids that still live here. Its not ancient history, its living memory.

8·27 天前I don’t think the blame lies solely with corporations when it comes to urban planning issues. Corporations will act in the way that they think is most profitable. Always. That’s a know quantity.
The reason that so many places ended up looking like this is failures of the political systems that allow, or even encourage this type of development. Express you displeasure to your elected officials at all levels. That is the best way to get changes made, not just complaining about corporations on the internet.
Good thing children only exist during business hours.
3·29 天前Don’t forget that phones don’t have bezels anymore. A phone from a couple years ago with a 5.something inch screen and half an inch of bezel on either side is the same size as a 6.something today.

- walk on the treadmill for 10 minutes to warmup
- look at your phone while sitting in the toilet for 10 minutes
- walk around looking at weights/machines for as long as you can until someone notices
- pick an exercise with all the machines taken, stand around looking at phone until one frees up

- look at the time, if you have been there longer than 45 minutes, round up to one hour
