Just imagine it’s all being held/manipulated by an anime girl sitting in the chair/boat.

It basically eliminates the need for
id=
attributes when linking which is awesome. Puts control in the hands of the user instead of being limited to whatever the web page creator thought was going to be what people want to link.Power to the people! 💪
Riskable@programming.devto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What's up with the sudden increase in AI slop?English9·16 hours agoBecause they probably just took the first image that was generated without even checking it. For today’s generative image AI you usually want to generate great big batches then pick the best ones.
Then if you’re looking for high quality in your meme you’ll also use inpainting and pull the result into Krita or the GIMP to make further improvements (e.g. add text with a proper outline/drop shadow). Then when you’re done you’ll use AI to upscale the image to a great big size so that it’ll look nice when you print it out and hang it on the wall in your cubicle or the stick it to the office fridge or some filing cabinet 😁
Riskable@programming.devto News@lemmy.world•As Floods Hit, Key Roles Were Vacant at Weather Service Offices in TexasEnglish191·13 hours agoSo… To save lives in situations like this you need to collect taxes to pay for a socialist weather prediction and emergency management system.
Texas: “Taxes and socialism‽ Forget it! We’d rather die. All we need to defend ourselves from weather or anything else is big pickup trucks and guns!”
If they’re proper mermaid tops they can be expensive though. You’ll have to really shell out for them.

Riskable@programming.devto Futurology@futurology.today•Ford CEO Says Blue-Collar Workers ‘Safe’ As AI Will Replace ‘Literally Half Of All White-Collar Workers’English62·2 days agoSpecifically, he points out that the country is short 600,000 manufacturing workers and 400,000 auto mechanics.
If you think auto mechanics have a bright future you’re mistaken. As automakers move to EV platforms cars are becoming much simpler. Both to manufacturer and repair.
An electric vehicle is an order of magnitude simpler in design than an ICE car.
Furthermore, advancements in robotics from AI and—suddenly—vastly cheaper industrial servos will result in fully automated car maintenance. You’ll pull your car into a shop that’s been pre-programmed for your vehicle and it’ll be able to handle 90-99% of all maintenance tasks.
AI only has to be shown—by hand—how to perform an operation once. No matter how many steps! Even if there’s all sorts of crazy tolerances where cars can come in different configurations, the AI will be able to find the screw holes and remove panels without damaging wiring harnesses. They can even find screws that drop (which is better than me, haha).
There will always be a need for some mechanics but they’re going to mostly be handling big stuff. Not common sedans and trucks.
My prediction: The first fully automated robotics shops will be the tire places. Because there’s only so many types of wheels/tires, ya know?
Such a hair-brained idea. Fur real, I love it.

Riskable@programming.devto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Everybody talks about beliefs like they're this big important thing.English23·3 days agoSo why are beliefs so important for ao many people then?
They’re a coping mechanism.
Reality often sucks, so how do you go about your day knowing that so many suffer so many injustices every day? Easy! Just ignore them and pretend like everyone will get what’s coming to them in the afterlife 👍
It’s the perfect system for tyrants: Think I’m a monster who abuses my power and intentionally makes people suffer? Well, if you even try to do anything about it you’re going to hell! Overthrowing an openly evil government is not what Jesus would do!
It’s the same mental gymnastics that people use when they blame minorities for their problems. It’s not me or my beliefs (about the world) that are wrong! It’s those trans furry kids and immigrant invaders who are destroying the very concept of everything I believe in!
