I’ve had the song Zombie by The Cranberries stuck in my head and because of this post about cranberries I’ve changed the line stuck in my head to this:

But you see, they’re on me, they are my employee
On my head, on my head, they are fleeing
With their fangs and their bogs, and their bogs, and their legs
On your head, on your head, they are crawling~

On your head, on your he-eaya-ed,
    Spi-der, spi-der, spiiiders,
What’s on your head, on your head,
    Spi-der, spi-der, spi-ehya-ehya-ehya-ehya-eyoh-

  • There’s 8 billion humans on earth, and if you assume that’s the average planet population in the empire, you’re only maybe a trillion of there’s over 100 planetary civilizations under imperial rule.

I’m not a big enough nerd to know how many there really are, but thinking back to how many reps were in the republic senate scenes, it’s probably around a trillion (they generally rep a planet, right?). But that’s being generous, plenty of those planets are noticably smaller than Earth and I don’t think they all end up imperial.

  • Man I’d love to see them try and fail, especially in those thin margin areas, although I’m pretty sure they’re going to also make it’s so difficult to vote blue by locating polling stations, adding even more restrictions (but only on Dems), and so on.

Given a non-zero number of reds being pissed off over tarrifs, Epstein, etc., it’s certainly possible that it still backfires even with all the cheating, though. Throw in some underdog democrat not even backed by their own party and you might even end up with a weirdly progressive rep— imagine no boomers (mail in ban), no traditional neolib Dems (no nearby polling station or motivation), and an influx of unemployed, pissed off young people willing to camp out at the polls… anything could happen.

  • Y’know, from a risk assessment standpoint, you can’t be too surprised they over rely on data since AAAs cost so much to make an a flop can lose millions, and sometimes even billions of dollars. Mediocre can still sell, and you and I both know they aren’t doing it for art or expression.

I do want to make one other point about survivor bias, though… there are plenty of crappy indie games, too. We focus a lot on the greats (and trust me, I hunger for the Silksong) but it makes up a pretty small percent in a world where everyone can make something. I sometimes will spin up a random game from regrettable purchases (like, indiegala bundles or those “mystery game” purchases) and some of them are really, truly horrible. I try to give is as much respect as I can, and sometimes I do find a few gems that nobody has played, but like… not every passion project is Undertale, lol.

Although tbh, I like streaming a bad game for friends because they can watch me suffer, haha, so I still appreciate the, uh, effort.
