thethirdobject@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Border Patrol smashes car window to detain migrant advocate, teenage stepdaughter in Vermont252·1 month agothey’re getting downvoted because their tone is condescending (“just a thought”) and because this kind of comment shifts the blame from the oppressive side to the victim. if that at least was good advice, but it’s not even that since he’s stating something obvious, thus undermining their engagement and activism even more.

thethirdobject@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do you pay for your cellular service?1·3 months agoSunrise, waiting for the perfect time to get their offers. I also have my internet subscription wirh them, so I have an extra discount. But honestly, I’d prefer to change for Galaxus mobile or Wingo. Maybe try comparis, it can help even though this feels like a hostile environment full of predators trying to extort your money.
thethirdobject@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do you pay for your cellular service?5·3 months agoSwitzerland, 30.50 chf a month for unlimited calls sms and data in Switzerland and 40gb a month of roaming in Europe (but with a huge discount: regular price for this would be more than double)
it’s relative, he was progressive compared to the thousands of popes who came before him
In Switzerland, Proton is well-known but their CEO is more than shady, and Infomaniak is a better alternative.

thethirdobject@lemmy.worldto Ukraine@sopuli.xyz•Bundeswehr No Longer Procuring Swiss Arms Due to 'Neutrality' in Ukraine War1·10 months agothe swiss country is not a monolith. swiss politics caused this offer to be the result of a complicated consensus, not just “ludicrous conditions” emanating from a purely capitalist agent.
op’s post was making the point that a lot of specs of the 2024 iphone 16 were already found on the 2021 sony xperia 1 III. I don’t really care about either, and you could use a lot of different 2021 android phones as a comparison. I don’t even think the comparison is entirely fair, but to ignore the fact that apple is clearly lagging behind android on certain aspects while hiding behind marketing is just misguided. Also, their phones are just overpriced because of price, and the innovation argument is getting old.
thethirdobject@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Every show with a suicide now has a disclaimer with a suicide hotline at the beginning. Is there any evidence that these warnings make a positive difference?3·10 months agoIt’s funny I litterally just finished an episode of Search Engine, the ‘new’ PJ Vogt podcast, where that’s the actual question. It was the May 3rd episode, and they’re interviewing a researcher on the topic, etc.
thethirdobject@lemmy.worldto Ukraine@sopuli.xyz•Bundeswehr No Longer Procuring Swiss Arms Due to 'Neutrality' in Ukraine War11·10 months agothat’s not really what hapoened, they boight those weapons knowing the conditions that were attached to it. The swiss political context is complex, it’s not a matter of one side vs the other but of consensus between a lot of actors defending various interests. This is why in this case the swiss left has been trying for years to stop swiss exports of weapons of war, while the right and far-right pushed for it.
thethirdobject@lemmy.worldto Ukraine@sopuli.xyz•Bundeswehr No Longer Procuring Swiss Arms Due to 'Neutrality' in Ukraine War1·10 months agoThey bought them knowing of the conditions they came with, which is fair if they now don’t want to buy new ones because of this same condition
