it’s a massive mental force when you apply it and make mundane chores a battle worth victory!
As ut goes, even though you’re always going to have a war to fight make the little battles more rewarding

my mother in law has given a lot of produce from her garden to the different places that will take it. Hearing her recall the number of years and the amounts donated makes me happy. Just thinking of that is good medicine

possibly a bovine, maybe buffalo but not a bison unless its in the US
my problem with your line of argument is your giving it a one size fits all but that is not the case. You are debating it with me but you aren’t factoring in that none of what you are proposing is within reason
Bats don’t give Americans rabies
https://www.nps.gov/subjects/bats/myth-busters.htm
1% of bats should not be such a concern, especially when my state has only EVER had 2 cases more then 20 years ago
Also, I have NEVER seen the bats that live on my house, as much as I have tried.
Any reasonable person should not touch a sick animal, especially one acting weird. But I don’t have any cares or concerns about the bats at my house giving me rabies.
thisbenzingring@lemmy.sdf.orgto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Which book(s) left a lasting impression on you?42·1 day agoHitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
it was the first book I ever read, and I decided to do it on my own. I was 16 and it was the greatest thing I had done for myself up to that point. It was such a big thing for me. I had never read a book front to back before, let alone deciding to do it on my own.
And so I checked that book out at the library. Went home and started to read the first couple chapters. Got some tomato soup and a grilled cheese and then next thing I know its 2AM and I read that whole book in almost one sitting!!!
The freedom it gave my mind was a gift I can never reply. Douglass Adams is and always will be one of my favorite humans for what he gave me in that story.
thisbenzingring@lemmy.sdf.orgto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Which book(s) left a lasting impression on you?71·1 day agoWhen I was young and exposed to these stories, they had a different meaning
but as I have gotten older, wow those books sure do hit a bullseye but not always for what meaning popular culture puts on them
1984 to me is not about the government as much as it is about political ideas and opinions. Big Brother only punished the Winston because he broke the rules while being an insider. If he ran away to the proles, he would have been free but nope, he was theirs and they were going to punish him for his deviancy. They prepared for it even.
An in my opinion, those MAGA dupes are Winston of our age.
Animal Farm is similar but even more on point of our nature allowing these pigs to rule us with “all animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others”
Its good we call cops PIGS, because they are.
you are very misinformed if you think rabies is 100% fatal l, there’s stages to the way it works and only the final stage is fatal but there’s cases of survival, so it’s not 100%
and rabies are rare in the US and almost non-existent where I live.
here’s a very good podcast about bats by a professor who studies them interviewed by a fun host. the professor talked in detail about this subject of rabies and bats
idiot americans worship money and think being royalty means being loaded
heheheheh love it
thankfully they stay outside, no sign they go into the attic. this is the northern side, they clearly prefer that side but we have seen some scat on the east side too. the outside layer under the roof is that 1910 style beadboard so they probably have lots of places to get a foothold. it’s Tutor brown so it’s next to impossible to see where they actually hide
while a valid concern, this so rare it should be considered almost nothing
In Washington, there have been two cases of human rabies identified during the last 75 years, and both residents were infected with bat rabies virus. In 1995, a four-year-old child died of rabies four weeks after a bat was found in her bedroom; and in 1997, a 64-year-old man died of rabies; exposure in this situation was unknown.
